Workshops

Shrewsbury and Church Stretton Workshops and Telford Dyslexia Academy;

The SDA provide tailored multi-sensory one-to-one tuition to many dyslexic children in Shrewsbury on Saturday mornings and, since September 2007, in Church Stretton on Monday evenings.
Tuition is provided by specially trained dyslexia teachers (many of whom are also qualified school teachers) whose qualifications are recognised by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS).
Telford Dyslexic Academy also provide tuition and a creative arts and crafts workshop at TCAT on Saturday mornings. However, not all tutors hold specialist teacher qualifications, but are ‘dyslexic aware’.

Shrewsbury Workshop
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

The Workshop takes place on Saturday mornings during term time and is held at the Fellowship Room of St. Giles' Church, Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury.
During the morning there are three one hour sessions and each pupil is allocated to one of these. The sessions begin at 9.30, 10.30 and 11.30am.
Tuition is generally on one-to-one basis and occasionally shared with one other child. Pupils work on individually designed programmes according to their difficulties, and sessions are conducted in a friendly, encouraging manner and are made as interesting as possible. Progress is carefully monitored and re-assessment of reading and spelling ages is undertaken when it is thought to be necessary.
All tutors at the Workshop are qualified teachers of dyslexic students and have enhanced CRB police checks.
Timetable is towards the end of the page.
